We are a dedicated support network, providing a lifeline to educate,
empower, and uplift women affected by gambling harms—specifically,
affected others.

Who we are

We are women with direct lived experience as affected others. We
understand the emotional, financial, and relational toll of gambling
harm because we have been there.

While gambling-related harm is often viewed through the lens of
the gambler, the devastating impact on families, partners, and loved
ones—particularly women—remains underrepresented. We are here
to change that.

As financial education specialists, we also recognise how deeply
mental health, relationships, and overall well-being are impacted by
gambling harm.

The Unique Challenges
Women Face

The specific challenges women face in relation to gambling harm are becoming increasingly
apparent.

Socio-economic pressures, caregiving roles, and sometimes abusive relationships contribute to
a complex experience of gambling harm that is distinct from men’s.

While men still gamble slightly more than women, the gap is closing, especially in online
gambling. For many women, gambling often becomes a way to emotionally escape or cope with
financial stress, difficult relationships, or trauma.

Many women feel isolated, preventing them from seeking help.

At Bet on Her, we are changing the narrative. We focus on the recovery of families directly
impacted by gambling harm, ensuring affected women receive the support they need to regain
control of their lives.
